My name is Alvina. I was born in St. Louis, MO. At the age of 4 years old, my family and I moved to the west side of Detroit, MI. I am on a healing journey and freeing myself of the things I have endured throughout my many paths. I am exploring and journeying further in my walk into my God-given purpose as He uses my gifts to make room for me. To encourage people through my words and my perception of looking at all things positively. It is my absolute responsibility to be a beacon of light for others to see a way to freedom. I stand and unapologetic in my truth and identity as a solid faith-filled Christian lesbian. God is love, and He created me in His image of whom He wanted me to be.
OvercomeHer Life is my intimate story of overcoming childhood sexual abuse, living in darkness for 20 years, caring for a parent with mental illness, and coping with grief from losing loved ones. I birthed OvercomeHer Life from many visions that God had been revealing to me over the past ten years. Today, I am using it as my fuel to “soar above" everything that has come or will come to impede my journey.
OvercomeHer Life is also my testimony of resilience, tenacity, and peace to triumph from familial childhood sexual abuse. I will remain transparent and even at times somewhat vulnerable but constantly growing! I’m on a mission to reach back and lead others to find healing with resilience, tenacity, and peace. All while restoring joy into the world, one city at a time!
